Harvesting Time!

It's summer time! How's your gardening going?  I am happy to report that my garden is now officially producing some edible and beautiful vegetables. I'm growing beans, radishes, Swiss Chard, Mizuna, sweet peas, sugar snaps, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and chillies.  All of them are doing really well this year as we used much better soil and a great mulch this time around.  I am proud of my garden.  Just two years ago the only thing I could grow was spinach and weeds....   My grandmas would be so proud : )

This is the time of year when the kids are out of school, so time to help in the garden! I'm trying to come up with extra chores and activities to schedule their days as much as possible so that I won't go crazy : )   So far their favorite part has been harvesting sweet peas and eating them straight away.  This is so great and I love it!  Makes it all worth it when I see them actually loving eating fresh veggies.  The minor problem is that there aren't too many big peas yet, and the last thing the kids want to do is wait for them to grow.  I'm hoping patience grows along with the peas....

I took these photos this morning and haven't had a chance yet to cook and eat them, so that will be my next post.  Happy gardening!
